Questions and Answers
What is an Independent?
- Prior to 1903, it was illegal to have a political party in BC.
All sitting members were independent and were directly accountable to their constituency. They truly understood that democracy was of, by and for the people. - It is my opinion that the party system does not listen to the people in a constituency but is a vehicle for concentrating power in the south. As an independent, I will not be silenced by the policies or leader of a political party.
- My responsibility will be first and foremost to you, the citizens of the Northeast.
Why run as an Independent?
- As a citizen of our Province I have become extremely disillusioned with Polarized Party Politics. If the NDP is elected, they cater to the unions down south and if the Liberals are elected they cater to business down south.
Where does this leave the people of the North?
- A provincial policy that creates jobs for Albertans and taxes our BC people so they can't compete!
- A devastated forest industry
- A deteriorating provincial road system.
- A privatized railroad that is going nowhere.
- Closed BC Hydro offices
We need a renewed vision for British Columbia.
- A fair tax system and level playing field.
- A balanced economy promoting forestry, agriculture, tourism and alternative - energy as well as oil and gas.
- A 4 lane highway linking the Northeast, Northwest and South.
- Respect from the southern power brokers for the huge contribution the Northeast makes to keep the province afloat
How have I voted in the past?
- I have voted in every federal, provincial and local election since 1968.
- I have voted for every major political party during the past 41 years.
- Unfortunately none of the parties have provided a vision of Canada for Canadians.
